About Old Springwell Croft
Our six Cottages are set within 17 acres of Scottish Highlands, midway between Glencoe and Fort William. The site is certified as a ‘Site of Special Interest’ (SSI) and benefits from its own private beach on Loch Linnhe.
Croft Cottage is a traditional 18th Century Scottish Cottage with a modern interior. The remaining Cottages sit on a secluded hillside plateau and offer panoramic views from the Ardnamurchan Peninsula down Loch Linnhe to the Sounds of Mull, across to the Argyll Mountains and the ‘Dragon’s Tooth’ and along Loch Leven to the majestic Mountains of Glencoe. Our views will simply take your breath away and our sunrises and sunsets are a photographer’s dream.
Our cleaning protocols meet the standards documented by the Scottish Government and by our Trade Body; ASSC. In addition, we sanitise our Cottages using an Ozone generator, commonly used in hospital laundries.
Old Springwell Croft is the ideal well-being self catering holiday destination whether it be to explore the Highlands, walk and climb the spectacular mountains, relax from the stresses and strains of everyday life, have a short break, ski at a choice of two resorts, spend Christmas or New Year in Scotland, watch the unique Scottish wildlife, go mountain biking, go whale watching, visit the beautiful Inner Hebrides or just have a cosy Winter break. All of these are possible at Old Springwell Croft in the Scottish Highlands.
Within our 17 acres of native woodland there are designated walks up to and around the hillside; the higher up you go the more dramatic the scenery becomes as the Lochs and Islands widen out before you.
Old Springwell Croft is teeming with wildlife, including red squirrels, pine martins, foxes, badgers, roe deer, eagles, buzzards, woodpeckers, chaffinches, blue tits, goldfinches, song thrushes, to name but a few.
Colonsay and Oronsay are both 4 bedroom Cottages which each sleep up to 8 people, Kerrera, Lismore and Shuna are 2 bedroom Cottages which sleep up to 4 people each and of course, the original Croft Cottage which sleeps up to 6 people. Each Cottage has a different layout and provide all the equipment you will need for your self catering stay.

Just returned from a lovely week staying in Colonsay. The cottage comes with a fully equipped kitchen & utility room. The views from the front are lovely, looking over the loch.
Stayed here for a week on a family holiday. Extremely homely to come back to after long days of walking and sight seeing and the view of the mountains is so breathtaking.
We found Springwell very much at the last minute. Suffice it to say that we struck lucky. Our bungalow was compact, spotlessly clean and perfectly comfortable for the week we were there. Lovely views of the loch from dawn till dusk. Great holiday !
We have just spent a glorious week at Onich, staying at Springwell cottages. The views from the lounge and the kitchen are to die for, and it was one of the best weeks ever.
Ideal family accommodation in a great location The property is a converted croft which has been very well modernised and recently re-equipped and decorated. It is conveniently located for sightseeing in the Lochaber area and for access to Ben Nevis
We would recommend this cottage highly The cottage was clean and comfortable. We especially loved the private beach on the loch opposite. There was sufficient parking for both our vehicles and the owners even came and checked both vehicles were ours in case someone else was blocking us in! Very thoughtful.
Exceptional Amazing view from the property, great aspect to catch the last of the afternoon sun over a cuppa, all the cooking facilities that you'd need in a self catered property, easy access to a beautiful beach, great location as a base for winter mountaineering, plenty of space in the communal areas, comfy beds, good soundproofing for bedrooms, very clean throughout... We loved it!!!
A house in paradise They gave us a spectacular house. Everything clean and well taken care of. The kitchen with all the necessary utensils and the views ...... simply spectacular
Amazing Place The cottage itself is lovely & spacious (it looks like it has been modernised under the current new owners), clean, well equipped with everything you need for your stay. Outside, there is a sitting area, where you can enjoy the beautiful views and your meals or a glass of wine. As Oronsay cottage is on a hill side, you are overlooking the loch and its surrounded mountain, and the view is really breathtaking (even on a cloudy day). We also appreciated quietness and a great level of privacy. There are lots of beautiful places to visit in the area, and we were only disappointed, that we didn't book longer stay. I can't truly praise the place enough, my family and myself had a wonderful time and we definitely come back again, to the area and to Old Springwell Croft.
Beautiful Views Our family of 7 stayed in the Oransay cottage and loved every bit of our stay. House had the perfect view of the mountains, close to many places such as fort William and Ben Nevis. Pub literally walking distance. House was well equipped and heaps of information on what to do and where to go. Couldn’t have asked for a better place in the highlands.
Great location, clean and quiet Old Springwell Croft are in a great location overlooking Loch Linnhe. They are clean and quiet, a great place to relax. The seating and beds are comfortable and car parking is right outside the door. There are several good eating areas nearby and you are nicely placed for exploring the area. We love the place.
Ben Nevis 2018 Fantastic accommodation! We stayed in this wonderful cottage (Oronsay) with family and friends at the beginning of May. Our trip was a Charity climb of Ben Nevis. The owners, Jim and Pauline were extremely helpful and friendly. We were pleasantly surprised with how spacious this cottage was. Everything was of a high standard. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you!
Oronsay Cottage - Excellent, well-equipped accommodation with outstanding loch view Excellent spacious accommodation: well equipped kitchen. 2 bathrooms with 3rd extra toilet made this really easy for our group to stay. 3 new sofas & table seating 8 providing plenty of room. Stunning loch view from lounge & most of bedrooms. Would definitely stay here again if visiting this area.
Beautiful spot with incredible views Spent a lovely weekend here with friends - such a lovely place to relax. The cottage was well equipped and cosy, and had absolutely spectacular views out over the loch. We were able to go on some great walks/runs in the near vicinity, and also took the car to go a bit further, exploring Fort William and part of the Ben Nevis range. Would highly recommend!
Just back from staying in the Oronsay lodge at this tremendous location. First off, the view. Wow. Just wow. It’s such a perfect location, on the edge of Loch Linnhe looking down the loch towards Mull. At this time of year, the snow on the surrounding hills and mountains are gorgeous. We were in the 4-bedroom Oransay, a very well kitted out house. It sleeps 8 with enough shared space to comfortably accommodate all in the shared living areas. 3 toilets, including an en-suite bathroom with shower, a sizeable shower room and a small toilet at the back door, meant that there was never any queues or clashes. A big dining table sat all 8 of us for meals. Lastly, a well kitted-out kitchen with dishwasher meant that there was room to cook and not worry about the washing up. We’ll absolutely be back.
Lovely place with outstanding view Stayed here for a week on a family holiday. 8 of us in total but not once did we feel cramped or on top of one another. Extremely homely to come back to after long days of walking and sight seeing and the view of the mountains is so breathtaking. I want to wake up to it every day. Will definitely be back next year.
Springwell magic We have just spent a glorious week at Onich, staying at Springwell cottages. The views from the lounge and the kitchen are to die for, and it was one of the best weeks ever.Fort William is only a short drive away, and lovely to go and visit for a few hours. The West Highlands are amongst the most beautiful in the world, and to sit in the cottage in the evening and take in the views, is a privelage and a joy.
Perfect Location, Cracking views and Cosy cottages Stayed in Kererra for the weekend with my husband. We walked up the trail behind the cottages where a number of little tracks are marked with freshly mowed grass and fabulous views. The cottage was perfect for what we wanted. A base for exploring the local attractions on the West. Very clean, tidy and all very easy to organise with the owner giving us ideas for where to eat/visit during our stay. Highly recommend Springwell!
